I usually bathe my piggies in the summer but I didn’t do it this year.

My hubby has mentioned that they are a bit pongy and could do with a bath. Is it too cold now if I had the heating on? They’re indoor piggies

It is a bit cold but if they are at risk of getting sore skin from urine scald or caked on poops or grease gland crusty yuck it might be ok with the heating on. If their skin is fine and nothing is crusty and there's just that adorable aroma of unwashed rodents, I would say sod hubby and wait until spring! They will only go straight back and lie in a fleecy bed full of pee and poops :) Blod had a bum bath and fur trim last weekend because she had some clumpy crud tangled in her skirts very near the skin, but 5 days later I cant actually say she smells any better, she just doesnt have poop dreadlocks any more!

I gave my boy Finn a bum bath the other day and a baby carrot afterwards. Mine are also indoor piggies but I moved them away from the windows and doors for the coming winter so currently, they are in a very cozy spot in the house.

My boy Finn has long hair that requires constant hair trim, bum hair trim, and bum baths. Every year I keep up with his grooming even in the winter and he always does fine. He goes into his cozies after his bum baths and nibbles on his baby carrot. I do make sure he is dried a lot before I set him loose back in his house.

I have a central heating in the house so the entire house is always at constant 70 degrees Fahrenheit , which will be around 21 degrees celsius.

i have two piggies with dandruff, diagnosed by a vet as mild fungal .i have to bath both piggies 3 times, once a week for three weeks.i have brought them inside into a warm room.and placed a heatpad in the cage.i would not place them back outside until 100% dry.these two are staying inside until late spring now !

@SkyPipDotBernie and @Claire W both read my mind. I also love piggies' smell and my hamsters' smell. I sleep in the same room with them whenever I get a chance. Also, I prefer their smell over expensive perfume,

Main reason I give my boy Finn baths is so that he is comfortable in his constantly growing hair. If not trimmed and groomed, he will have massive amount of hair, which could be very unhealthy for him. I am not bothered by the smell of my piggies or hamsters.
If my boy Finn didn't have long hair, I would just leave him alone.
