Hey everyone. So I've had my guinea pigs for a month now so I gues that qualifies as new owner. Anyway I was hoping to paint my room one of these days and I know the fumes would not be great for the guinea pigs and that I would probably have to take them out of my room. So I guess my question is, does anyone know how long I should let my room air out before I bring them into it after painting? Or is this not a big deal? Or should I avoid painting my room all together as the chemicals may take a while to fully go away? Thanks!

I had this issue, i waited until i couldnt smell the paint anymore👍 kept them in a different room, warm. And opened all windows where the paint fumes were

Thank you. My room isnt massive so I'm sure it wont take too long. I would just need to get a top for the cage as we have a cat. But don't worry everyone met eachother and I'm sure the wouldn't mind sharing the living room for a little while!

Just keep the window open and shut the door. Itl soon dry, wack the heating up too, waste of energy bills but hey lol

You can most probably buy fast drying paint

Hi!

I would strongly recommend to move your piggies out of the room while painting. Choose a good day for being able to air your room for the rest of the day - not too cold and with a bit of a breeze.

If you use water soluble paints, you should be able to move your piggies back in in the evening or the next day, depending on which time of the day you did the job and how smelly your room still is. If you use oil based paints, you need to wait a bit longer after afterwards. Always make sure that the room is well aired for several hours before you move your piggies back.
