To have my pigs free range in the shed that they are in. They have a three storey hutch, which they would go into at night. The only problem is that the shed is really big. So I would probably make a little enclosure in the shed which they would run around in.
If this would work I have a few questions.

What would I put on the floor so it doesn't rot?
If I was to build the enclosure, what kind of wire would I use?
If this would work out, any extra tips would be handy.
I know there are some other people here that have pigs free range in a shed.
Thanks

Hi, l may be able to answer 2 of your questions
Most good hard wear stores sell a water based paint that is supposed to be suterbale for use in small animal cages, it is caled "Pet Safe Paint"

1/4nch corigated chicken wire
Also some keeper on this foram have put heating and lighting in there sheds

@ayemee your pigs are super tidy! You've got them well house-trained

Of course it is no problem! :)

I'm investing in some sticky lino tiles to put on the floor to stop it rotting. I use fleece on the floor just like in their hutch :)

Your shed is so pretty. I love the fleece. My cage is one of those shop ones, it is not a hutch. So they wouldn't be able to go in and out as they please but I would put them in at night. @ayemee what are those lino tiles you are talking about. If they are available here they would be really handy. Thanks .

Ah I see, yeah you could close them in it at night so they're safe :)

They are usually available from any DIY shop such as b&q in the flooring section. They're not normally very expensive and very easy to use. Either that it some kind of sticky back plastic roll. Anything that won't let the wet soak into the wood floor will do :)

It's probably @ayemee that's tidy XD

This was taken just after a clean out so don't let them fool you! :D

Thanks. We have a B&Q within 20 mins so that would be handy and to clean it would you just give it a wipe?

On the lino subject - it really can be worth ringing around local shops that sell lino flooring. Tell them you need an off cut for a rabbit hutch (that bits important) and you're not fussed on colour/pattern. I got a 2m by 1.5m piece of top of the range lino for just £10 - its done both floors of my 6x2ft hutch with spare. Also it was a lovely oak pattern the man found for me - looks lovely.

Oh and its still easy to fit - cut to size with scissors. Then lay it in position and use a sharp knife to trim any where that needs it. Stick it down using silicon sealant. Then seal round the edges.
Also the advantage of it being in one piece is there's less chance of any wee managing to leak under it.

Yeah I just spray it with pet safe disinfectant and wipe it clean :D
Cool. Thanks. Sounds like a great idea.

Yeah. I think they have them in my local tile shop.

I just asked my dad would he help me build it as I am useless. And he is thinking about it. If I keep on about it, it should work. :)

:agr: I actually had lino fitted by my local carpet shop . It wasn't too pricey - and I knew they'd do a better job than me .
