I'm actually trying to re-bond my two boars. I can put them out together for floor time, but my younger one consistently bullies my older one who ends up staying in his hidey the entire time. They have not had a full on fight, but have come close. Any suggestions?

It doesn’t sound like they are compatible, and I’m afraid there is nothing you can do about that. They won’t change their minds and putting them together will be causing stress and upset.
They won’t bond so you are better off to ensure they never have physical time together and instead Ensure floor times are kept separate.
I’m sorry it hasn’t worked out

Hi

As little as you can make two kindergarten kids who really don't like each other become best friends, you cannot make piggies conform to your wishes. They are their own complex personalities. It always comes down to the unpredictable dynamics between the personalities involved.
Unfortunately there is no personality transplant for piggies or any any magic wand measure that void the requirements of a hierarchical group at the very core of guinea pig social wiring.

You will have to work around your two boys' incompability and rather than trying to force your dream focus on making the best out of the sitatuation you are in. Which is actually a lot more than you'd think. Let their individual personalities shine with enrichment on lots of different levels instead. ;)

Thank you! I also found a section on bonding and how to manage breaks, etc. I do love all the valuable information that is available on this forum. It's wonderful!

Here is the access link to our full information resource in thematical order so you can find any information more easily. We recommend that you bookmark it. It is one of the most extensive if not the largest around at the moment. We have tried to make our guides as practical and precise as possible so they are easily to follow.
There is also some fascinating stuff on guinea pigs as a species in their own right in there and what makes them tick. ;)
