Sadly one of my pigs was put to sleep on Monday after a long illness. I would like to bury her in the garden but I'm concerned about the medicine used to p.t.s leaching into the soil and harming other creatures. I have buried other pigs before that were not p.t.s and went very deep (3ft) to ensure the site was not disturbed.

Please could I have some advice on this - is it OK to bury her or should I have her cremated?

Many thanks

I’m so sorry you had to say goodbye to your little piggie. There is absolutely no problem burying piggie in your garden at all. I have Bill and Ted buried in pots in my garden. I fill the pots with seasonal plants and they look lovely. I always have a chat with my boys when I’m outside x

So sorry for your loss. You made that difficult decision out of love, now be gentle with yourself as you grieve.
I have buried piggies who were pts in the garden.
There’s no problem at all.

I'm sorry for your loss, the amount of medicines needed for pts are usually quite small when a piggy is near their natural end anyway. The vet wouldnt let you take them home afterwards for burial if it wasnt safe for wildlife. Our piggy who was pts last month is buried in the garden, she was laid to rest in a brown cardboard biodegradable box filled with hay, and we have a painted rock marking her place and stopping her being disturbed until we plant something for her in the Spring x

We have buried many of our piggies in the garden. All have been PTS. I’m sorry for your loss.

Whilst Timmy passed naturally I worried about where to put him to avoid him being disturbed. I ended up lifting a square of turf in the lawn and popping him there. The grass has grown back and I know I won't accidentally come across him planting something.
