Is It Odd For A Female To Be Dominant

Yes, it is perfectly normal.

A boar operates outside the actual sow hierarchy, but he then slots in with the group wherever he fits in - that can be anywhere from the top, if the neutered boar is very dominant, to the bottom, if you date a non-dominant youngster.

A bonding often fails when both husboar and top sow are dominant and are vying for the top spot.

hehe yes its so interesting to watch them. My male wasn't initially top pig but he is now, although I believe thats because he lets Bea have whatever she wants as long as she lets him look like the boss

I have a neutered boar with my very dominant sow. She would never have tolerated another sow after her cage mate died last year. I would say that she and my NB are almost evenly matched, but she has the upper hand most of the time!
