This morning my daughter tells me Kenny is laying on his side pretty much in the cage. My heart dropped. I went in to see him looking like he was leisuring on the floor. He jumped right up and ran to his house as soon as he saw me. Normal?
Oh, his head was up just his hips were to the side. Not completely on his side.

if he jumped up and is otherwise fine then I'd say he was just chilling ;) relaxed piggies will stretch out like that, they're obviously happy and comfortable in their home :)

Yes he did jump up and run once he heard me. He runs around his cage morning and night popcorning and rocking the cage. Sounds like a herd of pigs in there. Poor Seth is just watching him like chill out brother.

If he was doing that semi-reclined mellow pose and jumped right up when interrupted, I would say he was just chilling out. My pigs relax this way frequently- they tend to keep their heads up and front feet straight, but will twist their back legs out to the side and often have their back to a corner to feel secure. On occasions where my pigs were laying down because they were sick, they did not jump back up as soon as they heard someone, so I think that's a good sign!

Don't worry, I suspect that your piggie was just totally chilled out and relaxing - which is a really positive sign!
If you look through the 'Request a photo' thread, there are lots of piggies who are mellowed out in lots of positions :)

Credit to you for checking it out though. If you get to your piggie and he can't lift himself or seems to have no control over where he walks (my piggie had a stroke and had no depth perception - he kept trying to jump off the bed because he couldn't work out where the edge was!) then you need to be getting him seen to straight away.

Oh no, he knew where he was going. No problem getting into the house. My youngest said he does this all the time. Good to know now after I have a mini fit. I know about the stroke thing. I myself had one about 10 years ago.

Oh heck! At least your are aware on what to look for!

It sounds like you just have a very chilled out and relaxed guinea pig who likes where he is sitting very much :) :) :)

My piggy does this more than sitting or chillin' on his belly.:)) He always has to have a spot in the one corner of his cage to chill on his side or he will throw his veggie bowl around in the cage and throw a fit! I had piggies before and they never did that but this piggy I have now loves laying on his side to sleep or just to hang out. :)

They do sleep in some funny looking positions, mine like to chill out on their sides & have a nap with their chooken legs & boy bits hanging out haha ;)

Hey! Did he look a bit like this? :)

Something like that yes. I'm sure he is fine. My girls say he does it all the time. They call him a 'sexy French piggy". He was rocking his cage this morning. I walked in to wake my girls up and he came screeching out of the house. He knows thats his moms que to feed him. He saw her go out of the room to get his food and he went crazy! He was running around his cage and popcorning like a mad pig. It was too funny. Seth just stays in the house like 'Really, Kenny?'
