this is gonna be a really stupid question i think.
one of my little men 'Jerome' is usually quite a shy little thing, and I rarely see him out wandering the cage when I'm around it. He's amazing for cuddles and everything, but is so shy when he's in his cage.

i just walked past the cage, and he was out, in the middle of the cage, led down with his back legs splayed out.
is that normal?

like i said, probably a stupid question.

No question is stupid. You are right to ask about anything you are unsure of.

My Nutty lays down like that too. I think it's just they have different positions they're comfortable with. Nibbles will curl up and put his head down on one side to sleep, and Nutty does what we affectionately call 'froggy legs'!(the position you described!)

Its normal, and also very cute! Sounds like you caught him relaxing :))

Is this normal too?

One of my Guinea pigs, Frankie, is more shy than Chelsea - They are both females (named after Chelsea football team and Frank Lampard the player).

Frankie sat almost bolt upright as if sitting on a chair, yet there was nothing supporting her back. When I came in the room, she seemed conscious of me
looking astonished at the way she could do this unusual position. She then
moved herself as if to get up, but slightly tipped on her side with one leg underneath her belly.

She always surprises me - she has now got the confidence to jump on top of the feeding box in such an athletic bounce! - Chelsea cannot do these kind of activities because she is heavier at the rear end (another issue I am trying to look into).

I don't know if it is normal for Cavies to do some of these things, such as sitting upright and snuggling up to teddy bears. Frankie is one of a kind and Chelsea is far more scattering, bolstering in her manner. @)
