I'm talking about Pippa, my guinea pig who looks like a gopher x)
I've never had a guinea pig like her. When she was in a cage with her sister Onyx, she was SO mean. They had two of everything. Dishes. Bottles. Houses. But whenever Onyx used one, no matter what, Pippa would chase and nip. Onyx never defended herself. I had to seperate them because one day Pippa cornered Onyx and kept biting her repeatedly.
I tried introducing Pippa into another herd of guinea pigs, but she did the SAME thing. She made a sort of growling sound (I forgot what it's actually called...) and then began chasing the other females around, hellbent on tormenting the other girls.
Now Pippa has had a litter (accidental, of course) and she... well, she nurses the pups, but other than that, doesn't care for them. Our other accidental litter with Onyx was... different. Onyx groomed her pups and took care of them and watched out for them. It seems Pippa doesn't care much for them, I've caught her nipping at her one son, but I think it's just because he was being a bit annoying. Anyways, I'm keeping her daughter, Mercedes, but I'm debating on housing Mercedes with Onyx, because I'm afraid that Pippa will turn on her daughter as well.
Pippa just doesn't like guinea pigs.
I've never seen her act positive with another guinea pig.
She either attacks them, or just doesn't care for them (her kids).
Is this... normal? Aren't they supposed to be herd animals?
