I have 4 guinea pigs, 2 live on their own (out of their own choice) and the other 2 live together, we're preparing to move house in a few weeks so i've had to move their cages out of the bedroom and into the conservatory so that we can get on with boxing our belongings. Its a large conservatory, more like an extention to the house, the temperature is controlled, they currently have the radiator on so not really any different to them being in the house. I've not changed anything within their cages, so literally the only thing that has changed has been the location of their home but despite this they are all sulking badly! One of them in particular is refusing to come out of his shelter, he's happy enough to eat the carrots, food and hay that i put near the door but he doesn't seem to be coming out .... also i've not heard a sound from any of them since i moved them early yesterday and they can normally be heard Wheeking for food a mile away whenever you go near....... i feel so bad now :(

I've tried treats and leaving the light and radio on for them to try and bring them around but they are still unhappy with me, i just want my happy noisy little piggies back :{

Has anyone experienced the same thing? Or have any ideas how i can bring them round? Is this normal behaviour?

If they react like this to a room change in our current house then i'm worried sick how they are going to cope with a complete house move ?/

Give them a bit more time to get the hang of their new surroundings! It usually takes two days, so hopefully, they will be more their old self by tomorrow.

jake has been sulking for a wheek cas oliver broke home waiting for a call from p@h to say the new one is there

My two were very much like that for a week after I moved, not sulking exactly but very apprehensive. They didn't make a noise and wouldn't come out of their hidey holes except briefly, to eat. After about a week though they began to venture out and gradually wandered out of their cage and explored the room, and then they became happy again! Before long they were happy as larry, chasing each other round the living room and weeing on the bottom shelf of my new television stand :{:):))

Proper sulking is what they do when I'm overdue with their big clean out, or on the rare occasion that I stay out all night - then they're like my parents going "where do you think you've been young lady!" :))

Thanks for your replies :)

I heard them coo-ing to each other earlier so hopefully they are starting to come round, i've put a soft toy in their cages now aswell, incase they wanted something comforting to make them feel better!

I'm sure i'll have it all again when we move properly but at least i'll know what to expect then and can stock up on all their favourite veggies to bribe them into forgiving me :D
