Hi, I am new to the forum and was wondering if my Pickles will be ok.

Yesterday he was biting on his bars in his cage. My neice was over and it was apparently getting on her nerves (she is 11) and she bopped him on the nose (not hard, it was with her finger, but still...). Now Pickles is huddled in a corner and gets scared when someone walks by. He is eating but when no one is in the room and he stays on the bottom part of his cage.
I am just wondering if and when he will be back to his happy self. Or if my brat neice traumatized him for life.

Can you check his teeth and mouth to make sure he isn't hurt.

I'd advise talking to him gently and sitting by his cage while giving him some lovely veg to eat, hopefully he'll feel less nervous then.

Please explain to your neice that animals should be treat with respect and dont understand punishment!mallethead

He should come out of his shell in a few days' time when he has convinced himself that nothing is happening again.

try n get him out for extra cuddles, the same happened to me my neifew (hes only 2) decided he would climb the tank which scared the pigs. couple of extra cuddles n they were fine x

I wouldn't recommend putting anything in your guineas water as sometimes it can put them off drinking at all.

Hope he's feeling better soon x

It is easy to tell if they are drinking or not: the bottle's got liquid level marks - you can tell if there is less water rolleyes when the pig lives alone :)
We give our boar a choice of 2 bottles and he always finishes water with supplements first.

All the best to Pickles x

he is drinking and eating. just a little skiddish still.
THANKS a million for all the advice.

I'll keep updating on his status.

Again to all thanks.

He is my baby and I am very attached to him.
