Hello all piggie lovers! :smitten:

I have been with the love of life; a chubby Himalayan boy, named Polo for two and a half years.

My family was extended last Sunday with the arrival of 6 months old Pepe Le Pew from a pet rescue.

I researched barmy4boars and this very forum to guide me with my first attempt at bonding.

The piggies were in separate cages, side by side but they are now together. So far there have been no fights, just the occasional chases, and mounting from Pepe which never last long as Polo soon tells him off (swift prods)

They have two of everything in their 4 by 2 c&c cage, but have shared food and a basket (or Pepe tries to and Polo scampers!)

I feel their relationship is much like the cartoon Pepe Le Pew and his love for the cat!

Poor Pepe tries to cuddle with Polo even purrs at him but sometimes Polo just doesn't want to know! Often they are in their separate beds at opposite end of the cage which makes me doubts the bonding…. ?

And now for the heaps of questions!

Is the bonding going well? Could they start fighting at a later date? What should I keep an eye out for?

Any advice would be much appreciated :)

Awwwwwww your piggies are just gorgeous :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

They can have falling outs but you can hope that Polo doesn't mind if Pepe wants to be boss boar ::) ::) ::)
As long as they're happy to be together and play together you should be right. They can get a little niggly if not well also.... you'll know them best, if you notice anything different ask on here O0
Good luck and well done for rescuing a darling little furbaby :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
Hope to chat to you more and learn more about your beautiful Polo and Pepe (btw love their names) :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Sounds like the bonding is going well to me. As for sleeping at separate ends of the cage - we all need our own space from time to time and that's just their way of showing it. It sounds as if their beds are at separate ends of the cage (?) - could you put these closer together?

Keep up the good work O0

Yes it sounds like it's going great! :) You have done everything right. My 2 boars sleep at opposite ends of the cage too. 6-9 months is an awkward stage for boars but as Polo is older all may be ok.

Good luck with them. :)

Most piggies dont sleep together :) even sisters etc want their own space! it sounds like its going well to me, as long as they're not fighting they're bonding! look out for teeth chattering and lunging. this doesnt neccessarily mean they'll fight but get ready just incase! xxxxx
