I have two baby boys and they are starting to get big and i would like to build them a bigger cage i can make up to a 3x7 but how hard would that be to keep clean? i use fleece with towels newspaper and puppy pads. i dont think getting enough fleece will be the problem but it would have to sit on the floor so would reaching across it be a problem what size would someone recommend for two boys? note that they are very little now but they will be living in it once full grown so for two full grown boys ive heard everyone say as much space as possible but I'm thinking cleaning wise what works for everyone? i do have a hand held vacum and a mini broom and dust pan set to clean with too. 2x4 could fit on my table but the one i have now is a 2x3 and a half grid cage with 1x2 loft so it wouldnt give them much more then they have no. also ideas on what people use to hold their big cages off the ground (besides grids as they are pretty expensive where i live)

a 2x4 would be the minimum required for 2 boys fully grown as the base with the addition of a loft as extra space. I have two boys in a 5x2 and that is ample room for them and easy to keep clean.

Its great that you want to have a big pen and if you wanted to do a 3x7 then go for it, if there is the the room. As you asked if it would be difficult to clean, not really but expect to have to get inside the pen to reach everywhere.

What I did and I did do this on purpose, I brought correx sheets that were 4ftx3ft which would not be big enough on their own to fill the base, but two together does on both my herds pen (a 5x3) and the boys, but as there is a lot of space to reach towards, I slide the top correx sheet towards me to sweep and clean, then put the papers and towels then fleece down, slide it back into position and clean the second part of the pen. Makes it really quick to clean actually and easier to reach that way. Just something to think about ;)

I have a 6x2 C&C and i don't think it's any harder to clean than a smaller cage :) you get into a little routine! I poop pick twice a day (morning & evening) then do a deep clean every 4-5 days. Shake off the fleece, sweep hay/poops with dust pan and brush and then clean correx with f10! :)

i have a 5x4 C&C cage and the easiest way to clean it is get in the cage :)

ok thanks everyone i do have half of my room set aside for them anyways lol so yes i do have the room so i may make it that big I'm thinking either a 2x7 and make a 2x2 loft or even set their current cage as loft lol but a 3x7 will be considered. their cage now swallows them because they are so little but i do know they will be gettin very big soon and needing all the extra space i can get. the only bad thing about building a really big cage is it makes me consider more beautiful piggies lol ive had four piggies before the boys but this is my first time with babies and they are already so tame fudge walks right into my hands x)

i think it may be easier to clean actually as I'm changing the boys fleece daily because though they are little they seem to go potty more and the smell isnt very pleasan twith more space spot cleans will still be necessary but I'm sure i wont be doing nearly as much laundry. :)

I have a 5x3 floor-level pen. I find it much easier to just climb into and clean than our old 5x2 that was raised.
