We followed similar steps to the ones above when introducing our 2 year old pig Linney to her new cagemate Sundae following the death of her previous cagemate. We let them meet on neutral ground- a hallway unfamilar to either of them. Luckily they seemed to get along well with only a couple minor 'I'm the boss and don't forget it!' dominance displays on Linney's part. In order to get Linney to accept Sundae as a new cagemate, we had to dismantle the cage and totally scrub it down so it smelled brand new... we ran everything inside through the dishwasher and then rearranged the contents so it had a new 'floor plan.' At that point they both happily moved into their 'new' cage and Linney didn't try to 'defend' against Sundae like she had before we made the cage neutral ground for them.
