Hi,

I'm new here, we have had Pickle for about 4 months now and as she's a bit of a biter and we felt constantly guilty about only having one we bought Alba home yesterday in the hope that it will give Pickle something to keep her occupied.

We have their two cages close to each other so they can get used to each other and have already been advised by a member to leave it two weeks until we introduce them. Can you please advise me on whether that is two weeks in the same cage or two weeks before they meet either in the kitchen (their run) or in our laps?

Thanks already for the great advise that's posted on here, can't wait for them to meet as can't imagine how excited pickle is going to be!

2 weeks apart from each other with no company as this gives them time to know each other and know about the other guineas health O0

Thanks for your reply, so just keep their cages close and then slowly introduce then after two weeks? How long after that until they can share a cage?

I would keep them well apart initially as you have no idea if the new pig is carrying any diseases etc. Quarantine the new guinea and when you are sure she is in good health after at least 3 weeks then put her cage next to Pickles to let them get used to the sight and smell of each other. GIve them some time tlike that then introduce on neutral ground O0
You would not like you new guineas greeting to be giving you new guinea pig an infectious disease-quarantine is important unless you are very sure of the health of the guinea coming into your shed. The only places I do not quarantine guineas coming in from would be from Ron (how likely is it a guinea would ever leavehis shed?) and SophieW's as I know their guineas are all in goo dhealth and those that are not are seperated from the main herds.
