I've given my piggies time to adjust and they're already a lot more active and curious. Not so much my boy Leif though, he's still pretty shy and ANY little movement from me frightens him. (I make sure to go VERY slowly). They will both take veggies from my hands and Stitch has starting making a fuss soon as I enter the room. He's a greedy little boy, haha. I've introduced them to floor time and they both love it, though they keep going under the blanket and running about that way... purring alot when they do so I think they just really like it. I haven't picked them up too much unless I had to because I wanted them to adjust to their cage first. So my question is this, I want to introduce lap time soon so that they can get used to it. How soon is too soon for this? Also, Stitch is a bit of a wiggler so I'm afraid he will try and jump off... I really don't want them to get hurt. How should I introduce floor time safely and in a way that won't traumatize them?

Take it slowly and build it up. 3 mins first few weeks then 5 mins. Talk to them softly and use food as a bribery so they associate good things with time on your lap. It can take a while so be patient and it will pay off.

Some piggies enjoy laptime, others not so much. Out of 7 piggies we've had only one of them (Vimto our current piggie) that hates it, the others vary in their enjoyment. Make sure they can't run off your lap during laptime by keeping hands near them but you'll find they will freeze more on your lap, use food if they are restless at first - remember the way to a piggies heart is through their belly :))

Other ideas maybe to have them in a cosy cup on your lap, this is how we won Cookie round at first several years ago. She is now quite a settled piggie on lap, although does get bored :))

Thank you! I don't actually have a cosy cup... is there any way I could make one? Or any place that sells them? :) I think my shy boy Leif Erikson is more likely to be the type content on my lap (once he's used to it) but Stitch is a free spirit. He always wants to explore haha.
