Beaver

So I'm introducing the two girls at the moment, Sinae and Beaver, they've chatted to each other without seeing each other for the past week so I thought I"d give it a shot. So far its been interesting, they chased each other around at first, sniffing each others butts. Then I think they realized that they were two girls and Sinae got shirty with Beaver for getting too close I think and now Beaver is scared or being submissive and digging her head into the corner and hiding. Beaver chattered her teeth a lot and squealed and is now only making small noises whilst still hiding.

Now Beaver is still hiding but Sinae is walking around more, and walking near Beaver kinda rearing her head up at her. And then walking away. So I'm wondering is this all good? Sinae is older, she is 17 months where as Beaver is no more than 3 months so I think Sinae thinks she can be Queen of her castle, and Beaver should bow to her... thats how I'm working it out ^^

Any pointers on what I can do to make this easier? can I leave them be if no fighting occurs or should I take one out again to be sure?

Hi

They need to sort out who is 'boss' and it's not always the one you think will be!

The head raising / rumbly walking bit is all part of the dominance thing, as is the chasing. Once they've got through it all, it should settle down unless they're very evenly matched in terms of bossiness! Head rearing can come just before an attack, have something ready to separate them (dustpan! or a towel) don't put your hands in.

I would supervise them and let them get it out of their system, if no actual damage is done I would leave them to it.

Are they on neutral territory? Putting in lots of veg can help, take their minds off it!
