Hi!
Our youngest piggy, Commander Vani Waddles, has some odd nighttime behaviors.
1. She is a deep sleeper - If the lights are out, and she knows that it is bedtime, Vani falls into a deep sleep. What this means is that if I were to turn on the lights and start midnight cleaning, () the other piggies would wake up and start walking around my room. Vani, however, always stays asleep with her eyes closed and her head on her favorite pillow. I thought you were a prey animal, Vani!
2. She makes suckling noises while sleeping. I have heard this in my dogs and horse, but never in a guinea pig. Guinea pigs dream, right (I just want to double-check)? My mom thinks that this behavior could be caused by our little piglet being taken from her mother prematurely (the thread on Vani's story backs up her assumption). I honestly have no idea, though.
3. She chews and makes soft noises. These are both sounds that regularly come from Vani while she sleeps.
I hope that someone can offer some advice as to why our little piggy is making these noises. How can I make her more comfortable at nighttime?
When we first brought her home, she had so much trouble sleeping. This always made me so sad. What were they doing to the poor piggie during the night?
After six months, we have reached this!
She went from barely ever sleeping to snoozing through my cleanings at odd hours of the morning!
