So, I have two boar piggies. Whenever I feed them, remove them from their house, or whatever it may be I always do Winston first, since he’s the dominant one. However, if I am giving Winston, say a pepper, leaf, or whatever, Al (the younger piggy) does this thing that reminds me of a meerkat. He stands up all the way on his back legs, wanting to get my attention I think. I think it’s just him being impatient and wanting his snack right then. Does any one else’s pig do this? Or am I just the one with a strange, inpatient piggy?

Only the dominant piggies in my pairings do this. The others just can’t seem to do it 🤷🏾‍♀️

My young one does this to make sure she gets her share of food. She even stands on the older girls back, much to her disgust, just to get closer to the food. Especially when i am giving a treat of tomato. they both go mad over it and its like a stampede towards me and then reaching up as close as they can to get it, immediately!

My dominant sow Lily does the meerkat thing too, but usually only in the playpen when having floor time. She doesn’t do it in their cage. With her though I think it’s because their cage is raised off the floor on a stand so she’s physically nearer the food that’s being offered. The playpen goes on the floor so I have to bend down to put food in and she then does the meerkat thing. It is super cute though.

@Guineapigfeet your agouti pig is gorgeous 😍 Lily is also an agouti, they are the most beautiful guineas!

Agree with agoutis being absolutely beauties. If I’m feeding them veg in the cage I feed them with both hands at the same time else they’d be grabbing the veg and running... cheeky boars :D

I can attest to grabbing and running. But three of my piggies have all gone through phases of being lazy and wanting to be hand fed! They would basically expect me to hold their food for them, not caring that I had other piggies to feed. I did love that though ☺️
