Hi,
I've got 2 piggys, one i got a couple of months ago he was on his own as he had been fighting with his cage buddy, but the cage they were both in was tiny so obviously there will be friction.
Hes about a 1 year old, I was worried about him getting lonely and i really want whats best for him so ive got another little boy bout 12 weeks to keep him company, they r both in seperate cages in the same room at the moment.

Any tips or advice on how to introduce?

Also I've got a massive square run that i'd like 2 turn in 2 a cage so when eventually they get 2gether the have tonnes of room, any tips for flooring?

Thank you!

Best read the sticky thread about boars at the top of this section!

The best way to introduce them is on neutral ground somewhere where none of them has been. (if necessary, use the buthtub with a towel for grip!)
Make sure you have two of everything, bowls, bottles, hay, huts etc., so the dominant boy can't close the other one out. It might be wise not to have any huts with only one exit, so the little one can always escape.

Prepare for a lot of chasing, rumbling, humping, teeth chattering (but not prolonged)... It may well take several days or weeks to really settle together. Please separate them if there are bloody fights.

Be aware that when you separate them they have to start their relationship right back at square one again, so take them apart only when absolutely necessary. A certain amount of bullying comes with the territory.

For flooring have a look or post a thread in the housing section. There is stuff you can get from a DIY, but as I haven't got any, I don't know the best product.

Wishing you all the best! Please keep us updated and ask if there are any questions about behaviour or housing.

Thank * so much!
Although disaster!:...
The little one (we've called him hiro) was sneezing yesterday but i thought it could be due to the new enviroment change but ive had a little look at him this morning and his nose is runny and his eyes r a little runny 2 and he's sneezing loads! I'm taking him the vets this afternoon esp after looking stuff up on here they havnt been in contact with eachother yet.
Frigers crossed for hiro!

What a great name hiro is! !Hope he will be ok. Keep us posted.

I would introduce on neutral ground as Vicky said and give them plenty of room. Don't give them anthing they can squabble over like igloos or anything and if you give food bowls give 2 and also 2 water bottles.

I find bonding over a bit of veg a help. Takes their mind of it and also if you do bond don't put them apart again as you have to go through the whole process once again!

Good luck!

Thank *!
