New Born Pup
Last night I attended a UK Vets webinar about caring for elderly guinea pigs and there was some information that could prove very helpful when taking your pigs to see a vet so I thought I would share on here, it explains there are as many guinea pigs kept as pets in the UK as there are horses and ponies but yet whilst vets study a fair bit in equine care there is barely any subjects on guinea pigs. I know myself after several vets I have been to I have had to advise them on matters as 40 years keeping these little sweethearts does come with some knowledge! I thought I would share some slides from the veterinary webinar that others may find helpful if urgently visiting a vet that has minimal knowledge. The pics are on dental disease, Cystitis, cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis and joint disease, Lymphoma, Hyperthyroidism and pain management in elderly pigs.
Hope this is an interesting read for others looking after geriatric guinea pigs
