Info on how to take care of a Bird ?

Budgie? I don't really know. What are some quieter birds?

Sorry I am very late in posting on this thread.
But just incase you haven’t got a bird yet..or for anyone else looking here..
There is no such thing as a quiet(er) bird.
Budgies CONSTANTLY chatter away. And most other birds have a high screech.
I have birds, they are not easy pets. They require a lot of care and attention. And many types are a life long commitment. Or at least 20-30 years.
Do not get a bird if you want an easy quiet pet, and do not get a bird just because you have seen cute videos of friendly and talking birds.
Birds are HIGHLY social, and should never live alone. Even if you think you are going to spend lots of time with it. They need same species companionship.
They also need huge cages. And to be able to bet let out of their cages to safely fly around the home.
I personally do not have inside birds at the moment as I do not have the time, and to be completely honest..I actually struggled with the noise at times (and I’m a huge animal lover with lots of patience)..
I absolutely love birds, I much prefer to see them flying wild and free. But Alas captive birds have been dealt a hard and unfair life and cannot have that luxury. Therefore it is up to us to give those birds the absolute best life possible. And always try your best to rescue. The bird trade is pretty awful.

My birds, Cockatiels and Budgies live in a large aviary outside with fresh branches and room to stretch. But I still feel sad for them..

:agr: Birds are very hard work as pets. They need huge amounts of space, company and time. They are very vocal, can be very destructive and need to be kept in social groups. They are treated as exotic pets so you will need a specialist avian vet. Their care is entirely specific to their particular species. Most breeders and pet shops often don’t know enough about good care and husbandry to be able to offer you sufficient support.
Speaking as someone who’s kept different species of birds over many years I wouldn’t recommend birds as pets to you & your carers.

I agree totally with what's been said above. The other thing that put me off getting a bird was how sensitive their airways are. We have this a bit with Guinea Pigs but no way near the same extent. Forget candles, air freshener, any aerosols or even cooking with Teflon pans. If you really have your heart set on it really make sure you do your research and adopt if possible any bird is a very long commitment.
