Over the Christmas period I plan to spend the time with my guinea pigs introducing my new guinea pig to my existing older guinea pig. They are both female. Does anybody have any tips to help in this process?

Just put them in two separate cages but put, them close together allowing them to sniff each other, then if you think they are comfortable with each other put them in the same cage and watch them, see how they get on together.

If you have a large cage put some wire in between or c and c grids so they can see each other and make a bit of contact without biting each other. Switch the piggies sides so one guinea pig is in the other piggies side and that piggie is in the other piggies side. When you think they are friendly remove the wire and supervise thier introduction. If they do not get on put the wire back and start again.

Thanks for all your advice. After letting them get used to each other side by side for a few days they were successfully paired up in the same cage yesterday. They seem to be getting on well :yahoo:

I am so happy about it. There was always the worry if they never got on any then they would have to be permanently separated.

This is Ginny my older piggy...

I don't have any pictures of them together yet.

Yes she does! And I can see Bobbi's hair is going to be fun as she gets bigger!

Oh my! They are beautiful! I have a soft spot for Bobbi though, because I have a thing for black piggies! I just want to cuddle her, awww
