Do not want a debate on which is best, as we all have personal preferance, but I have been tod that if they are outdoors, you can not bring them in for cuddles, due to the change of temperature?
What i wanted to know was a is this correct
and b...
whilst its very hot like today is it okay? Its really cool in my house due to me having all windows open, and thought it may give them a chance to cool down?
Thanks x

Mine have lived both inside and out, as they managed to chew through their last cage and escaped into the garden! Very exciting one morning to find them loose with my 3 cats on the prowl!

They lived inside then for about 2-3 months whilst I persuaded my OH to make a new hutch.

They are now outside, in said new hutch, and they come inside regularly to run in the lounge, and wee on my carpet! Grr. :Ayociexp121:

Does't seem to bother them at all.

They're on vetbed in the hutch, if that makes any difference at all.

i have ceramic floor tiles and thought they may enjoy a bit free time on them, as long as they dont slide, otherwise will put them on carpet.. was just concerned that carpet may keep the previous boars smells on it, if that makes sense.
Will let them come in for a bit, they are flaked out bless them. Was going to put the fan out but it keeps raining, even though it is scorching! lol
Thanks x

The thing you mention about change in temperature is more the case in winter when it's very cold outside and you bring them into a centrally heated home for cuddles, they don't deal well with the change in temp.

In summer if it's warm outside and you bring them in to keep cool I think that's ok

I have pigs both indoors and out and both lots are happy and healthy

Yep defo the case in winter, which is why I bring my lot in. I wait until it is going below 10 degrees of a night. Last winter I waited until Christmas and I was worrying non stop so won't do this this year will bring them in around Octoberish. :)

mine are out side but i am getting indoor cage for them to come in over winter whats the betting they stop in lol i am only in 2 up 2 down so its finding space

My 2 girlies live in our brick out building. They come indoors all the time for cuddles and a run around. In the winter however, we turn the heating off in the kitchen and on the stairs so they can still come indoors and play. The temperature in the kitchen and on the stairs is roughly the same as the out building during the winter and I have never had a problem x

Thanks. I know what you mean about the hygiene thing but I do it for the interest of my piggies. We have a tiled kitchen so if they have an accident (which isn't very often) I can easily mop it up. Our stairs lead from our kitchen so it makes sense x
