So, i really want Guinea pigs of my own but mom said that they have to live outside.
I have a rabbit who lives outside all year round, but i want my guinea pigs to live indoors so i can have a better bond with them.

Question: can guinea pigs survive below 10 degrees outside in the winter months?
I know that rabbits have thicker coats for winter time but do guinea pigs, because they seem so small that to me i would be afraid of them freezing to death?! i know that they cannot go below 15 degrees otherwise they become 'chilled', but do they get thicker coats for winter?

Question: Do they struggle during winter outside?

Question: When keeping indoors is their anything you need to worry about?
As in like, deodorant, loud noise, temperature, where best to keep them etc

I can't answer all your questions, but with regards to deodorants, they should be fine, as long as you don't spray it near/around them. They should adapt to the TV, probably best to keep them in a utility room or lounge, or a bedroom.

i don't think i welcomed you to the forum, so welcome!:wel::yahoo: i am no professional but only here to give you a bit of advice from my personal opinions and experiences

-10 degrees is a no go! please don't keep them outside in freezing weather!
the things about inside they do make noise, it's a wheeee-ing sound if that makes sense:P
if you are too cold to be outside, then your guinea pig is probably too cold.
if you are fine being outside without a jacket, then its a good sign that your guinea pig is fine being outside as well.
smell, well i find using fleece bedding helps A LOT with smell, also the bigger the cage the less build up of poo in one area so it doesn't make as bad of a stench in my opinion . however i've had quite a few small pets and every time wood shavings and cedar etc. has always been smelly in my opinion.
it's really up to you where to keep the cage as long as it's not unsuit for your piggies, i keep mine in my room if you have other pets just be sure there's a cover over the cage or they're in a place where they don't cross paths.
i hope i helped a bit hope to hear soon how it goes for you!

If you are going to keep your piggies outside please keep them in a garage or shed where they can be sheltered from rain and draughts. Make sure they have plenty of hay to snuggle in, and you can give them a snugglesafe for the really cold nights. Keep an eye on their water bottle in case of freezing, and keep their hutch well insulated (old fleece blankets/duvets etc.)
This is the first lot of piggies I've had inside, and they're in a c&c cage in my bedroom. I use fleece bedding with puppy pads and towels underneath as it's less mess inside, and is so far keeping the smell down-I give it a full change every Wednesday and Sunday. When I'm at home I keep a small window open slightly for some fresh air, but not enough for a draught, and they have the radio on if I'm out, otherwise they have to put up with people constantly whittering on at them!
