Hi,
Looking for recommendations - our two girls live indoors full-time as we don’t have a garden. They have a large cage (2ft x 4ft) and also spend a good part of the day in an indoor run. I’m a first-time piggie owner so wasn’t sure what sort of run to buy. I ended up choosing a foldable pop up run made of mesh and “waterproof” material... it’s great for size and ease of setting up but my girls love to burrow underneath the towels I put down and sometimes their pee soaks through the base of the run (which isn’t particularly waterproof after all!) and onto the floor.
Can anyone recommend an indoor run with a more waterproof base?
Thanks,
Ana

My boys live in my shed but I do have a large indoor cage/run for them so they can come in the house if and when necessary. I just use c&c grids which are cable tied together in one long line. This enables me to concertina it up for storage. When required I just unfold and pop a few connectors in to make it a stable rectangular run. I just place a piece of plastic sheeting (which I got from a garden centre) (but I have seen some suggestions of using shower curtains) on the floor with newspaper or fleece on top.

Oh that’s a great idea, thank you! I’ll look into it 👍🏻 Ideally want to set up a bigger run for my girls so c&c grids would work well for that.

I have enough grids tied together to make mine a 6 grid x 3 grid temporary run but the good thing about them being cable tied is that I can actually make it any size necessary just by not joining the last few grids into the connector (so the grids hang out the end effectively). Most commonly i leave out the last few (and just fold them back on themselves so they don’t get in the way) and it can be an instant 5x2 grid cage if they need to come indoors for any extended length of time (if it’s too cold over winter etc)! The 6x3 is too big to leave up permanently in the middle of my house!

I also use C&C grids cable tied together. I love that this fold flat for storage and can be set up in minutes by 1 person.
I lay a plastic table cloth on the bottom and cover it with a fleece blanket for floor time.

Thanks both for your advice! Our house is really small so having a foldable run is ideal 👌🏻 looking forward to setting this up!

I use C&C grids as well. Underneath I use a piece of underfloor damp proof membrane, it's lovely thick plastic. If you know any builders they often have bits left that are not big enough for them to use but ideal to protect floors from piggy pee!

I have one similar to this, it’s 5ft diameter, has a hole for a small drinking bottle, folds away, zip top and base, it’s great for holidays if you are taking them away with you. A good choice if you need a secure top. base is fairly waterproof, I put a large waterproof table cloth underneath it
