Has anyone successfully used those wire/metal Trixie hamster runs for guinea pigs when exercising in the house? They sell them in P@H and zooplus but think they're aimed at smaller pets. All the rabbit size runs are a bit tall and heavy for in the house occasional use. If anyone uses these runs and have a photo that would really help me gauge if they're tall enough and also the size of the run space. Thanks

I've seen those - the hamster ones look too short, I reckon my pigs would be able to get over the top. There are indoor puppy play pens, they're very light and dismantle down to a small size. There's also ones more tailored to small animals, they have a zip/Velcro door so they can be linked to a cage/other area, and have areas to mount a water bottle.

I currently have a kids pop up ball pit as a play pen (it has been a handy emergency quarantine pen too), I recommend as a cheap, space saving solution (plus my niece can sit in it with the pigs and everyone's safe).

I have one and do use it inside for floor time. No one has tried to jump over or get out as they are too busy exploring....
It is rather small as a pen, but i use it as a wall to block off part of the conservatory.
Its very convenient as packs away small and is quick to get out.
It was usless for the hamsters and mice but has been perfect for the piggies.

I use a dismantled puppy play pen and section of half the room and tie them together with cable ties , works quite well unless you have two very naughty boys that like to escape even though you provide endless toys and hides holes for them !

I've used those hamster runs countless times for piggies. Never once have I had an escapee, but if your piggies were jumpers I would excessive caution! The one time I used it for a hamster she was out and gone in about 20 seconds :D so never bothered with that again!

Thanks guys ill take a look around. My pigs will make small jumps onto shelves and ledges but only after much consideration, they're not flighty jumpers so I might be ok to try the short run. I guess if it does look a bit short I could stick some cardboard to the top of it to extend it a few centimetres. Love the ball pit idea, omg such a great idea will definitely consider that.

To be fair they only wee in the inside of the cage or in the hay tray so they're quite good that way ! Yes the poo gets everywhere but I don't mind sweeping it up a couple of times a day . Thank you :luv:
