Have just brought our 2 8 week old boys in for the Winter
Any tips for keeping smell down?
They will be cleaned daily whilst inside but the lady I bought their indoor cage from mentioned puppy pads under fleece etc?
Any ideas please xx

Hi, I use a washable puppy pad on the bottom and a layer of shredded cardboard under the fleece and there's never any smells. I change the fleece after 3 or 4 days.

Animals are clean ! They don't smell ! Has long as you clean and keep them clean nothing smells !

It’s mainly the wee that smells. So clean out their hay area regularly as well as changing the fleece at least once a week.

We use a washable Inconti-pet puppy mat under the fleece and change every 3-4 days, there's rarely any wee smell until the night before we do the cage clean :)

My boy Finn and Lara are indoor piggies and I have never had issues with smell. I do keep up with regular cleaning them though.
I use both Carefree Bedding and fleece and never had issues with smell.

We’ve had our 2 boys for 5 weeks now and they live in our dining room. They don’t really smell, it’s mainly the smell of hay I notice. I found that if I clean whole cage and hay tray then the run around marking the cage afterwards and can be a bit smelly. I now do the clean in stages. We keep them on fleece with washable puppy pads underneath and a separate litter tray lined with newspaper and wood shavings for hay. I sweep out poo from the fleece daily and change hay tray every second day as this is where they do majority of wees and poos. I fully clean pads and fleece every 3/4 days. They have a small liner on a loft area that one sleeps on so that gets changed every 2 days when I change hay tray. I’ve found doing this means there’s always something that smells like them and they don’t feel the need to scent mark everywhere.

:agr:
Exactly this! Poo picking daily (several times day) and then changing the fleece out every few days is enough. Over cleaning will result in more scent marking = more boy smells!
