Hi
We have a hutch for outdoors but brought in Pumpkin last night with the whole hutch! The reason for this is because she lost her sister. But it's not practicle to have the whole hutch inside. Also we don't want her inside all the time. Especially once we get her a friend.

However to day I bought this pen to use for evenings. And just left off one of the panels. Will it be ok for her? Full measurements are on the box.
I also bought her a snuggle pad.

Are you bringing her inside every night? Will you be bringing her inside once you get her a friend?

Honestly I don't think she needs to sleep inside if she has a warm hutch, and the transition is probably stressful for her. If the pen is just for when your cuddling with her than it's fine for a little while, but it looks awfully small for living. But this is just my opinion.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Thank you. Well I just got it with no firm ideas.
So if you think she will be fine outside to sleep then that's good. The hutch has a cover plus a quilt and tarpaulin over it. Now the added bonus of a snuggle pad.

I just didn't want her to feel lonely and after some replies yesterday was concerned so bought it. Maybe just to put her in after a cuddle but not for a long time but so she has some background company around her. That kind of thing. Currently we use a big low sided box after cuddle time and have for two weeks.

No I wouldn't be bringing them both in. As she wouldn't be lonely. The pen is def not for living in was just for the cold weather and as she lost her sister plus to put her in when cleaning the hutch etc.

Thanks for your reply.

you need to be extrememly careful as guinea pigs do not tolerate extremes in temp,eg bringing into a warm house ,out into freezing temps outside.maybe you could bring your piggie in for the winter until you have another piggie? The dimentions of your run are small, maybe you could buy a second run and fix them altogether, thats what i did with mine !Could use possibly use oil cloth table cloth/or tauapalin on floor of pen,and place old towels and fleece to protect your floors.Just a suggession.you are in a difficult sitution.:)

I do actually have a big runnout the back that my dad made but we havnt used it yet. We just don't have the space at all for a big pen. We could have space for the addition of the other side of the metal pen but thebhutch would have to go. We might get her a companion next week from the same people we got them off. They also had some in the local pet shop today that were 8 weeks.

It's so hard as it's literally freezing out the there today. The hearing is off in the dining room and it's tiled floor so pretty cold out there but not as cold as outside.

Here she is in the full pen having cuddles.

Will keep her in the hutch tonight in the dining room. Then is it's not as cold tomorrow put her out for a few hours in the daytime.

The full pen looks like it would be ok for her to live in short term, and if she just lost her companion then i think having her around indoors is a lovely idea.
The thing is that it isn't fair to bring her in overnight and then put her back outside every day.
The change in temperature is a lot for her little body to handle, and best avoided.

Thank you. I was hoping the snuggle pad would help? Hubby seems to be accepting of it so far so for now she is staying in the dining room

The full cage looks fine for part time living :) I had my 3 boars inside for a week when they had scurvy. It does get to smell a little though... ;)

Good luck!
