Hey guys!
Cor, was a bit upsetting for me to come back on here. Haven't posted or even been on here since one of my piggies passed away. :(

Anyhoo, I'm back and looking for some advice. So, my piggies are indoors for the winter now, with their lovely new cage. Although, I'm worried they're not stimulated enough in their indoor enclosure! They seem to be a million times more active - even my 7 year old! So far I have lots of chewy snacks, hay balls, hideys, bedding to hide in, small balls (the younger boys love these) but I feel like I need to keep up with them and make sure they're entertained... Any ideas? Or let's see some of your indoor enclosure designs? Or is what I've got enough?:)
Thank you! Xx

If they have tunnels etc to play in then I would imagine they have enough to stimulate each other :) There are some idea's kicking around with hay stuff tubes and such like that you can make for them. All these expensive animal toys and treats but the majority of them prefer a paper bag or toilet tube stuffed with hay to destroy :)

Good to see you back on here, it is hard when you lose a pig. I've only just posted a rainbow bridge tribute nearly 2 weeks after losing a pig. It's the first day I've felt alble to without bursting into tears.

Lovely, thank you I enjoy making things for them! Just can't bare to think they're bored!

Ah bless you :( It's so horrible, I think about her all the time. Never really spoken about her if I'm honest, posted it on here when it happened. The support was overwhelming, but since then I feel like I can't be around my other piggies without wishing she was here :(

I think that's perfectly natural, it's a grieving process for a loved one, no different for a furry loved one than for a human. It all takes time of course, I lost one pig in January and that still gets me as well. After the first pig I lost I think it was over a year before I came back on the forum.

That's so lovely to hear that, truly helps that I'm not just going mad! No one has really understood. It was June when she passed, I still feel I haven't grieved properly. I feel like I'm ignoring that it's happened. I really appreciate you talking to me, I haven't been able to talk to anyone about it.

This is definitely one place that people will understand. Unfortunately some humans seem to think that animals, particularly small furries, are disposable pets not worth all the fuss but that's is definitely not the case. Give yourself time to grieve, however long it takes.

Hi, just reading this thread as I can't sleep! We lost our little piggie Amber today and I'm struggling to stay composed. I feel only people who've had guineas know how it feels and how attached you become to them. Amber has 2 sisters, Ruby and Ebony who are beautiful and doing well, but I feel guilty because she was my favourite. She was such a little character and even answered to her name and if you cupped your hands would jump in for a cuddle, purring loudly as you tickled her back. I think it will take a long time to get over her. X

the girl in my avatar is still very much missed after eighteen months, she was very special, a real people pig.You can hang tubes full of hay with bits of veg as well to make it more challenging for them to get it. I used to buy takeaway bags on line, cut the handles off and stuff it with hay and their veggies.

I completely agree with every post on this thread, with grief, and with suggestions to keep your piggies amused.
Do they have an indoor run where they can let off some steam for a few hours a day? Or being let out on the settee with some interesting tunnels and you to give them some fuss would probably go down really well too. Soft snuggle-sacks to climb in and out of and nudge around to their hearts content may be an idea.....
But yes, as previously stated, paper-bags with hay and pellets mixed in is generally a winner, as are bags with Readigrass, hanging hay-cages, varied tunnels, the cardboard tubes stuffed with hay (cut these down the side so they cannot get stuck on the youngsters faces), as I say, everything already mentioned by the others are firm favourites with my piggies too :)
