Hi I'm new here I'm getting my 2 new male guinea pigs in 2 weeks time with the cold weather I'm looking at indoor housing for them until the summer. Can anyone recommend a cage for 2 guinea pigs? Last time I had guinea pigs I am sure the minimum size was 4ft length x 2ft depth is this the same? Thank you in advance for any help

Don't buy the Ferplast 120x60. I thought that would be ok but realised that the sides taper in meaning that the floor space is actually only 112x54. Doesn't sound like alot but it actually is really noticeable. My piggies are only wee at the moment so it's fine but might have to look at something else as they grow.

Hi there,

Well there is a couple of options really, most people choose c&c which is a DIY set up which is really nice, however if you are looking for a straight buy, then try this link

For males you want to go as large as you can, I like the Ferplast 140. It's 140cms long and it's possible to add a shelf for extra fun.

Welcome to the Forum - you will get lots of good advice here.

If you are looking at indoor housing I would start here with the cage size guide.
Cage Size Guide

Initially you could get away with a smaller cage as the boars are babies, but to be honest what you really need is a 2 x 5 C&C.
This will be suitable even when your boars are older, so in the long run it will save you having to buy a second, large cage when they grow.
Plus the huge advantage of a C&C cage is that it can be packed away flat when not in use, so this could be good if you only plan to use it for part of the year.

But be warned - our piggies came inside temporarily when we got them in the Winter, and they never left.
Having them around all of the time turned out to be so wonderful that they never did make it outside!

Thank you for all your replies i do remember C&C cages from last time I owned guinea pigs (I actually used to be a member on here about 7 years ago!) I have decided that because I am looking into having them outdoors during summer months due to space in the house I am looking into a nice 6ft x 2 ft hutch for them keep it indoors until the summer then look into proper indoor housing when the colder weather comes in
