Hey guys, I don't know if I am being pedantic or very precious with my 8 year old boar, but he's a indoor guinea pig and have just had to move him out of my bedroom into the living room ( I am severely allergic to him!). The room has a slight draft and I keep the door closed as I don't want him to get a chill/ get ill.. my housemate who has been there 2 years longer than me, constantly leaves/ props the door open and it became a silent battle of wills in regards to the door being closed. So I put a little heater nearish the cage to combat any chill in the room.. and house mate turns it off.. I have explained to him I need the door closed etc for my Conan but he just laughed in my face and said "they live outside".. am I being utterly over sensitive!? Conan just lost his cage mate and is grieving, but I am so worried. AM I INSANE!?! :D

No :) From what I remember, guines pigs are normally better adapting to colder weather (depending on the situation on how low the temperature actually is, I guess), but keeping their room temperature right is always good. I don't know what the actual normal temperature for guinea pigs actually is, to be honest, so I'll google that when I have the time or if you know before that. If you're that worried, you can get a room temp monitor thing after finding out so you can keep an eye out for sudden temp drops.

Perhaps hanging some material (fleece etc) on the cage with pegs or something could help, specifically where the drafts are mostly coming to. Without making it too stuffy, you could a fleece or something over the top of the cage or some part of if to warm your piggy. You could also get a snuggle safe or some type of safe heat pad for piggies. Possibly more cozy houses and things like that?

I'm sorry to hear about his cage mate, though. Rip :(

Oh thank god! I am so *protective* over the silly furry buggers and have been panicked! its not super cold or drafty, but after just loosing one and because Conan is so so so old I wat to do everything I can to make him happy! But thank you for your suggestions, its invaluable <3

I am too; one thing and I'm in a full panic seeing what could be wrong :D I understand though as well considering his age and he could be more open to things. He must be very well cared for if he's lived to eight years already.

I agree with @CarnivalPiggy in that room temperature is fine, even if the room is a little cool. I'd suggest sitting by his cage for a while and see how draughty it is and if you are worried place some fleece or a blanket around three of the sides of the cage, and provide him with snuggly cosies for him to choose to warm up if he wishes. Too much heat would be stifling for him, and generally if it is comfortable for you in a long-sleeved t-shirt it's fine for them :)

That will be fine, draughts can affect them. As long as it's room temperature you are good to go ;)
