Hello everyone! I am incredibly new to the entire guinea pig business but I have fallen in love with my two little companions already.
My guinea pigs Merry and Pippin are reaching adulthood now and I am worried the cage I currently have them in is getting too small.
There current set up is below. Please ignore my obsession with Disney things! And the minimal toys currently. This is just after a clean.

Both of my boys are currently in MALSJÖ TV bench with sliding doors Black stained 160x48 cm - IKEA
This has been modified so that there is a door way between each of the sides and the boys cant escape out the back. I am hoping to lower the shelf on the left into a tier so they have more run space downstairs (and an easier place for mummy to clean up hay and food).
I know bigger is best for piggies and I am considering getting a ferplast 120 to place somewhere else in the house. I love having my pigs in the front room with me though.
Can I get some opinions and advice? I just want happy healthy pigs and to make sure I am being the best owner I can be :)

I think the general consensus here is to opt for C&C cages where possible. They are the cheapest and easiest method for housing piggys. It also means you can make a cage as long/high as you want, depending on your space. If you're a little tight on space and can only get a cage of smaller dimensions, then they recommend as much floor time as possible, so the little guys can get their space and exercise :) There's a whole thread here dedicated to C&C cages and homemade cages, so that should give you a little inspiration!

My boars started off in a 120 x 60cm cage but once those teenage hormones started raging it was clearly not enough. They now have a 160 x 80 Little Friends cage purchased on ebay. To be honest I wish I could have gone down the C & C route but we needed to do something quickly and having to cut a liner and make up the cage put me off at the time. We also needed a roof because of visiting cats if the back door gets left open.IMG_6166.webp I didn't realise at the time you can make lids with the grids. The Little Friends went together in 5 mins! You can make C & C fit virtually any shape space you have. What ever type you decide on go for the absolute maximum size you can. You won't regret it.
We later added a loft space for extra interest.

Welcome to the forum. I do like your clever setup, my only concern would be ventilation and the danger of overheating when electrical equipment is on especially in warm weather. C&C's are great. If you are in UK I can recommend this company enough, great cages in a kit and fast delivery C and C Guinea Pig Cages | Guinea Pig Cages

be lovely to see some photos of your piggies

Welcome again
