What are these and how do they work? i see you all speaking about them and understand that they are incontinance pads, i just did a search but nothing much came up!

I've recently changed to vet bed with towels and newspaper underneath, its great though quite high maintainance, I'm having to sweep poops 3 times a day and a change of towels and newspaper every 2 days with the vet bed getting washed every forth and I'm wondering if the inco pads would cut this down a little?

So if someone could explain where i can get them from and how to use them i'd be grateful! thank you!

Incontience pads, is the better word for them, they are for your bed if you have a weak bladder to protect your mattress. We all found another use for them and it's for the bottom of the piggy cage as it absorbed the wee and keeps them dry and less smelly for longer :).

They are also reuseable as you just pop them into the wash :).

oooo, thank you for your reply. so i guess i can get them from boots or something?

These are the ones the most of us are using

They are great :) I do a full change of my cages once a week and sweep poops up during the week.

They can be washed at high temperatures and they smell a lot less than towels. I found with towels I had to change at least twice a week and if the piggies pulled the fleece off of the towels, the smell was terrible :{

I have the ones from Amazon and I only have to change the main pad once a week. To be honest, it would go even longer as it NEVER smells and hardly even feels damp but I just change it as a matter of course (the inco pads are covered with fleece ontop).

I cut one pad up into four smaller pieces and use those in the 'high toilet' areas (covered with a piece of vetbed) - these get changed daily.

I can't recommend them highly enough.

I'm finding that I have to change one inco pad every 3 days- it's in the covered corner where they pee the most. It's not a problem as I change the fleece every 3 days anyway, and the rest of the inco pads every 6 days. It's still a lot less washing and smell than towels. And the inco pads dry much quicker which is a huge bonus as I have to dry everything on an airer. :)

That's why I cut one pad up into four smaller pieces. I use the small pads, covered with vetbed, in the high toilet area and I change it daily. That way, the main pads and fleece just need sweeping twice a day as they stay virtually dry with just the odd accidental piddle!

Yes, I think that's a good idea. Just have to save some pennies up again for another couple of pads. Guinea pigs are expensive little blighters but I love them. :(|)
