We are receiving 2 boy guinea pigs, roughly 1year old. We have adopted them from people who can no longer take care of them. They have lived with each other all their lives, so they won't fight as much.
The previous owners kept them in a large hutch out side in the garden. We will be keeping them in the hutch but I have chosen to move them into the shed because I am afraid of the foxes and off the cold weather. We will be keeping them in the shed for spring and the begging off summer. When it gets unbearably cold or unbearably hot we will buy a cage and keep them in the kitchen. But my mum isn't to keen so for now they will stay in the shed.

Is the shed warm enough? Will adding more hay keep them warmer? What can I do to keep them warmer? Does buying a small coat/jacket for them keep them warmer? Or does it just iterate them?

Thanks for your help :)

Moving them into a shed will be a big improvement on just a hutch anyway. Give them loads of hay to snuggle in and you can also get heat pads that can go in/under their bed for night time. Piggie equivalent of a hot water bottle :))

It's great that you're taking all this into consideration now. Enjoy your piggies :)

Into a shed should be warm enough, ive never heard of piggie having coats, i dont think they would appreciate them. Tho i guess some personalities wouldnt mind them. Lots of hay/fleece to snuggle in and they will be fine. As said before too, heat pads can be helpful if your worried about them being cold. Piggies dont appriciate extremes of temperature, but are more hardy than you might think (not that leaving pigs outside and not in a shed in the snow/harsh winter is ideal)
