One of my ginea pigs suffer from impaction, what could i put in his diet to help prevent it and how do i best care for a piggie with this issue?

Hello is he an older boar? I had an old piggy with impaction. I had to remove it everyday. It used to get very large (and very smelly 🤢). It’s really easy to do and doesn’t hurt them. Good luck

Hi, I have a senior boar who has to have his done every day...plenty of hay seems to help him but ultimately doesn't stop it...I have also changed over to using Bath mats as he seems to wipe himself on it ans sometimes dislodged bits near the surface...unfortunately sometimes there isn't a lot to do to stop it and keeping him checked is the best to make sure it doesn't get too bad...if you're struggling to get harder or bigger lumps out sometimes a booty bath can help soften it up to get out...or a wet cloth (I personally use a t-shirt so the material is a bit softer) you just have to keep trying different things to see what works for your piggy
