Rupert is approx 5 years 10 months neutered boar currently on a baytril course (0.18ml twice daily) for Bumblefoot. The last two days I've noticed his bottom appearing almost swollen, and with gentle pressure I'm able to help him pass a very large soft mass of stool, this evening the stool was coming out of its own accord but he sat down and squished it down so to ease any discomfort I expressed it again with gentle pressure.

Is this signs that his anal sac muscles aren't what they used to be or could it just be the baytril messing up his gut biome. He is on fibreplex 1ml once a day.

I've used a 1ml syringe to give an idea of how large this poop is.

Hi

It may be a combination of both? It looks like some mild impaction poos - the poos being softened by the baytril may have made the underlying process more noticeable.

Some simple dietary measures should be enough to make symptoms disappear again after the baytril is gradually worked out of the body since you are just at the very start of the process. Impaction-how-to-help-your-guinea-pig

Hi!

Thanks so much for your quick answer, I think the link you posted is broken as its linking me to a ringworm guide :)

Only a guinea pig owner would say this eh? 🤣🥰

Welcome to the club! :D
You just cannot imagine the sheer magic and excitement of spotting the very first tiny baby poos... :yahoo:

However, a lively discussion of cauliflower willies, impaction, funny poos and semen rods comes in extremely handy to clear enough table space for a forum meet in a busy innercity pub very quickly. :tu:

And I have no doubt that someone will be able to produce a poo from a random place.......😁
