I'm looking into making a fleece cage liner. Has anyone used bamboo toweling under fleece ? If so is it as good as they say and where's the best place to get it from

Ooo, I'm interested to find this out too, been weighing up the various bedding options for a while and I'm finally in a position to make a choice!

Well my c&c grids are coming this week. I'm starting with a 2× 5 but in time I will be going up to a 3×6. But that size will cost a lot in bedding so thought I would see what fleece is like. Wish I could stay with Fitch as it looks nicer, cleaner.

I've got experience of bamboo towelling in washable nappies (not homemade). It definitely holds more liquid than ordinary towelling but it takes a long time to dry and if you are sandwiching between fleece you won't really be able to get it totally dry by tumble drying.

You could perhaps, instead of sewing the bamboo inside fleece, make a sandwich using press studs (or even Velcro?) so you could then line dry the fleece layer and tumble dry the bamboo layer.

Here's another alternative absorbent layer used often in the US for nappies

Also micro fibre (think I've got that right - Thirsties nappies use it!) is often used as an absorbent layer in nappies.

It doesn't show a web link any more, but a smaller version of the ebay advert that you can read. ;)

I actually found a baby crib mattress pad. It fits almost perfectly it's just a little short on the sides but not much, length wise it was perfect for my 2x4 grid cage. I still put towels right under the fleece. But what I think I'm going to do is sew fleece over and under it I think it will work perfectly.
