I've been having my usual snoop around the Rabbits United forum & noticed that someone was trying to had rear an orphaned wild bunny. Then it struck me, what would it be like to see wild Guinea Pigs running around our fields (UK)? I don't know why this has suddenly dawned on me that it must be weird to be a Rabbit Slave & see these rabbits running around with diseases like Myxi etc
What would we do if we saw a wild Guinea Pig with an impacted bum?! :o This has really knocked me for 6!

We saw a wild bun run up past the side of our house, not far from our hutches. My OH said he probably felt envious of our buns on their snugglepads.. I felt sorry for the poor little thing, it was cold, dark and wet, and he looked like he was lost.. :(

Unfortunately I reckon if we had wild piggies in the UK they would be easy prey for predators and toe rags with air rifles... and probably see a few run over on the roads... :(

I heard a story not that long ago from a friend of a friend, that they had found 20 odd guineas running up and down a grass verg in a country lane, they thought they were from the wild(muppets) they gathered them all up and took them to a rescue centre,

It turned out they where ex breeders and had just been dumped >:(

its very sad really , they just wouldn't stand a chance in the wild in this country.

some people want shooting how dare they do soemthing so wicked to such defencless animals who give so much love , I'd be scooping any wild ones up and mothering them all I'd end up with 20 plus sheds in my garden, and road kill always upsets me when we drive down one of our many country roads I try to look anywhere but the road, as we get lots of badgers foxes and buns killed, :'(

I would love to see them in the wild though somewhere in their own country,i bet they look so cute
maybe a sky prog should film them,or david attenborough etc

our nearby amazon world animal park has large looking guinea pigs forgot their names but they look just like larger pigs, Iwas fascinated by them, the meerkats are wonderful too

Do you know where they where from as we had a couple that had a rabbit that was wild and they came to the vets the other day

Since getting Simba I just cant imagine these creatures ever living in the wild, they're so skittish and mad! haha
