My guinea has a sniffley nose but no discharge or eyes crusted up. She's still eating a lot and moving around like a bouncing ball with her friends. It's late Saturday now. I have a vet's appointment for Monday afternoon anyway. Do I need to try and move it forward or should Monday be early enough? Obviously if she gets worse tomorrow and off her food I will get an earlier appointment.

I have the same issue with one of my piggies. She's still eating and moving and being her usual self, so I'm not overly worried, I acually think it might have been due to dusty hay (that has now been removed) but I've got an appointment for Monday too. It's £150 for an out of hours call out for my vets so unless it is a genuine emergency I'm sticking to Mondays appointment. If you pig is the same I'd just go on Monday, but keep a very close eye as these things can go down hill very fast.

Thanks. I've only been a piggy slave for a month and already lost one to an infection so I am also paranoid momma. Sherlock seems to be fine apart from the nose so Monday is my top choice.

They're such fragile little things aren't they. I'm keeping an eye out for odd breathing, hooting sounds when breathing, if she's puffed up her fur and not very active/not eating. If any of that happens I'd get her to a vet ASAP.

I rang the pet store she was from and they fitted her in for free today. It meant I met a dishy spanish vet who knew what he was doing! Sherlock has antibiotics and metcam and she is doing well. It was really funny, the eldest son (aged 18) took her in and he was so concerned. He'll make a lovely Dad one day!
