I tried to bond my three girls but that didn't work, Rusty did not take to kindly to the new piggie and kept going at her eye.
I did a lot of research and decided maybe its best if I just Callie a new cage mate and left Rusty and Lillith alone.
So I stated looking around and I found a rescue about 2 hours away from me so I emailed them and they suggested a neutered male to calm Rusty down.
I'm wondering if that would be worth it? Because if he and rusty bump heads that's okay he doesnt have to go in that cage., I can try and house him with Callie.
But if he and Callie bump head I don't think I can have 2 extra piggies.
Does anyone have any thoughts or input on this. I do not plan on getting rid of Callie, she's a very good natured girl and VERY submissive-Rusty is just a bully-
Thanks in advance.

Dating your piggy is really the option - if you could take Callie to the rescue, there maybe a little piggy (male or female) she falls in love with. That way, you don't have the worry of bringing a new piggy home and risking them not getting along and the issue then of two lone piggies.
I've done the dating with one of my girls when she didn't like our top piggy in the herd and she chose two little buddies at a rescue whom she adores. They are totally inseperable and so incredibly close but was a little spitfire when I tried her with our existing girls :{
Nothing is guaranteed and I'm sure if you explained your concern to the rescue, they would allow you to take Callie along so you can bring a piggy friend home and not have the worry of bonding them yourself :)

That could work! Would it be okay to take Callie on such a long car ride though in the winter? :{

I have a bit of a weird scenario with my pigs as i have two boys and two girls (Which is not normally advised, but it works for ours, i orignally bought all 4 thinking they were boys hence why girls have boy names that stuck lol) kept in separate cages near one another. It really really relaxed my sows who were previously very nervous and shy from a rescue. They now lounge around grooming themselves constantly and and very social... I think this is a little off topic though lol

If she's on the front seat of the car (with the carrier strapped in) and you have the heating on at a comfortable temperature for you then she will be fine. As long as she has hay to nibble on, and a stop for veggies and water. If you have a lot of snow you might want to wait until the weather clears, but I've regularly transported piggies at all times of year and never had any problems. They usually fuss a little at first, then go to sleep.

Hiya

I had a similar problem many years ago and a very experienced guinea keeper suggested I do exactly this, and get a neutered boar. I am now on my second one in ten years and both have sorted out the girls, reduced bickering (they will always bicker!) and gets in the middle to break it up if it gets too much. I take all mine (6!) dating, if you can take them all that would be best as the dynamics can change a lot. But I think its the best idea and you will notice a massive difference in the herd. I would never go without a neutered boar with a load of girls now. Good luck!
