My Guinea Pigs hutch at the moment just literally has straw, hay, muesli bowl and a water bottle.

I would like to make it a little nicer for them. What could I add that they are likely to use?

How about a igloo (aka a pigloo)? You can find them in most pet shops and online. My piggies love theirs, so I'm sure yours would too!

My guineapigs love the thick wooden structures from pets at home that you can make into ramps or bend into caves, they can hide in them and they love chewing them, if you make them low enough they can climb on them too., they were on offer for £4,99 recently but I think they are usually nearly £6.00 near me, they also let the air through when its warm. Also the thick cardboard tubes they're not expensive either. You could try hay balls hung around that they can lean to eat. Mine don't seem to bother with chew toys although yours might, hope that helps. Silly xx.

A pet igloo, a tube and what about a hanging food ball to put veggies & treats in?

Mine love their hanging food ball with lettuce or tunnels, they run in and around them like crazies!

Wilko do a nice chewable tunnel - http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/guinea...jhjYX3SDlEUFWaOdTpLU0xVcTayKYYOc w4t9gBa9qg==

This seems to be a forum (and my personal) favourite - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Cute-...5?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Dogs&hash=item2a16dda695

My 3 also love shoeboxes. If you take the lid off a shoebox, turn in upside down and cut a hole in each short end you have a cheap pigloo! :)

Wouldn't they toilet in the soft one though?

I do have an old shoe box! I will go and see if the would like it! :)

They will wee in it sometimes, yes, though the base on the inside is a large removable pad which can be chucked in the washing machine or wiped down and hung out on the line. The base underneath this pad is a waterproof type material, which can also be wiped down.

They'll also appreciate any old (clean) tea-towels you have - either just chuck them in the hutch and watch them burrow underneath or pin one side of the towel in the door of the hutch to make a sort of tent. Et voila - cheap toys and happy pigs! :)

I have put a shoebox in their bedroom and have bought a 'living world dome' for them today too. I hope they like them!

As mentioned previously, tunnels are a good idea too. Mine love running through their tunnels. Cardboard boxes are much loved and a good toy is a toilet roll (cut down the middle length ways so the pig cant get stuck) and stuffed with hay and/or veggies. This keeps them entertained and starts up their foraging instinct :)

Mine have a combination of bendy stick tunnels, stools, wooden hidey houses, hanging veg balls (I stuff Excel or ReadiGrass in them and it takes them longer to eat it) and homemade sleeping bags.
