So I have one 5 year old male piggy, and I'm saving up to get him a friend or two. However, his cage is only big enough for him. Do any of you have ideas on how I could expand the cage to accompany more guinea pigs? I am a very crafty person, so any diy ideas are great!

This is the cage I have now.

Being Male, you can only add one more piggy - boars cannot be kept in anything more than pairs. Three or more boars together results in fights.

Is this kept indoors? If so, you can get some c&c grids, remove one wire panel at the bottom to allow permanent access out into an expanded area surrounded by c&c grids.
If it is outside, then the safest way would be to buy a new hutch at the correct size (that is a recommended size of a minimum of 150cm x 60cm)

Yes, sorry, it is an indoor cage.

Then that definitely makes things easier for expansion! As I say, simply add a larger area to the front. @anyar.dris has a hutch like this and has done exactly that

My own hutch is big enough but I have still added grids around the front of mine so they have an expanded playpen area

This is great! I found a place to do this in my room, so I'm moving everything around and setting up the grids! Thanks!

Could a boar live with two females?

Yeah, my hutch is about half that size, I'll try to share pics of the cage and new piggy though! :)

Aww. Were they babies at the time? Or were they used to a single storey hutch before this one?
They had a single storey pet shop cage with a run permanently attatched to it. They were brought downstairs earlier this year, instead of being up in my room

I currently have a double storey hutch, I think this is my 3rd and I have a new one waiting to be put together. I have always had to add extra intermediate steps on the ramps because they are so far apart for a pig's legs though 🙄😣

Aww. Lucky piggies 💕
I'd highly recommend the cage, they love it
Bear in mind it is not being used outside, I couldn't bear to leave them outside (not that it's a bad thing!)
If you would be to get it, be prepared to take precautions to protect the wood (especially around the ramp and corners) as they chew it to no end. In retrospect I would've done it before I out them in it but it was a quick solution for their housing situation

Mine don't eat their hutch 🤷🏻‍♀️. Although one insists on eating her log cabin, very noisily, making the window bigger 🙄
