I will be making my first c&c cage in a week times but need some ideas.

I know its simple to make but i want to add a second level, so i wanted you all to post pictures of your cages with or without a second level so i can have some ideas on how to set mine up.

I'm a little confused on how to do the second level. Do you just attach the grids and then make the base the same as the bottom base out of the correx? What about ramps?/

My dad will be the one making it as me and my fiance are useless at that stuff.mallethead But I'm sure he will have a good idea on what to do as he is very handy, but if i dont tell him how i want it he will just go ahead and do what he thinks is best.:p But i kinda have a vision on how i want it but it would be nice to share your ideas.xx>>>

Thanks!:))

when I did my mezz floor, I used a shelf to do my ramp (from Homebase), it's 60 cm long. I drilled 3 holes at one end and cable-tied it through the holes to the lip of the floor mesh grid of the upper level. I then glued (with wood glue) a piece of carpet onto the wooden plank so it's not slippery.

My piggies love it and whizz up and down it like maniacs!

I did think of doing that but use the correx and attach it but wasn't sure if it would be strong enough. what about any wood and then stick carpet to it? As I'm sure my dad has some pieces of wood lying around.

I forgot to mention i want to make base/stand for the cage as i want the cage off the floor. Anyone made a base from the grids?

Thanks for the site.

Ive had my nero 4 for a year now and didn't know whether to have a c&c or just keep this one but now ive decode that they are to big and could do with some more room. Hope ive made the right decision and that the boys will like it!

I know what you mean, my 2 boys currently live in a Ferplast 120 and we've just added a small mezzanine floor as I feel they are getting bigger and need more space. Hopefully we'll go down the c&c route in the new year.

I'm sure your piggies will love their extra space and reward your efforts with lots of popcorning! :(|)

I currently have a one storey cage - its easy to clean out and simple to arrange. Most people who build a second leval use bent grids attatched with zip ties for the ramp. This can be covered with scraps of old carpet or just towels and fleece :) The zip ties and bent grid ramps make it easy when it comes to clean out.

Our upstairs levels are just more grids (the mesh ones in the box) all attached together with the connectors and cable ties then cabletied to the side of the cage. It's sturdy enough and we haven't had any problems (as long as your cage is only 2 floors - it gets more complicated when it's 3 floors)

It's pretty easy to do that way - make sure you get BIG stong cable ties and if possible all the same colour ones - that way it looks tidier. We didn't do that but I wish we had. next time

Glad you got the grids and so pleased you enjoyed costco - it's pretty cool and such good prices too.

Yep my second level is just cable tied grids with a correx base just like the bottom. I used a bend cube for a ramp and at the minute I have a fleece cover on it which I made as a square with poppers on two sides. I borrow'd mum's sewing machine to make it and I have never used one before and I managed fine!

That's what we did only I had a length of vetbed and cabletied it to the bent grid ramp.

I've never used C&C but I'm presuming that the grids just snap together, which means you can also take them apart and re-make the cage, if necessary? If so, I'd try a design and be thinking about how easy it will be to clean/any safety issues, etc., whilst you're making it. I'd then try it for a few weeks and glaring problems may jump out at you.

I'm quite envious actually, as I love building things with Lego and C&C cages look like a load of fun to build, but my piggies are outdoor piggies and therefore C&C aren't really suitable.

Any ideas on a stand? I was going to do a test run this weekend and put it all together to see if I'm happy with it before i cut the correx.

For the stand i was thinking 8 cubes across then attach 6 to the bottom, two to the left, right and two into the middle would this work or do i need to add extra support by putting another four at the back? (if you understand what i mean, sorry I'm not good a explaining things)

I made a stand just by putting extra grids underneath, which is a really useful space for storing all their extra stuff. I made my ramps with decking which had astroturf stuck to it!

How many grids did you use for the whole of the cage and stand? As your cage is just what i want mine to be like! Its FAB! :))
Also what are the length and width in feet?

That's such a neat cage. Well done!

We are getting some black correx for the upstairs of our rabbit 150 it looks the business.

I just ordered black correx so that the panels are grey/correx black to match our rabbit 120 which is like yours, grey base, black bars :) Exciting stuff all these C&C cages!
