I'm thinking about adding another story to this cage, to give them more room and more space for toys/houses, because really I dont have much room to add stuff without making it extremely cluttered. Counting both top and bottom length is 7.2 ft, width is 2.8 ft. Now I'll obviously have to remove the lid, and It wont be able to open straight up because of my deer mount theres about 18 inches from the top of this cage to the deer mount. So any ideas would be very much appreciated! Since it's in my bedroom I dont want to make it wider although I know it would be ideal, i just dont have much space as is with all the supplies of horse stuff ( saddle-meds), fish supplies for two tanks, and my own stuff which now isnt much lol. It's difficult to find some DIYs online since most people either are making the one story ones. :) 20200524_154913.webp

I'm not entirely sure it would be worth the effort really. I completely appreciate what you are trying to achieve and it is great you want to give them more room, but they would actually lose floor space on the second and third floors through having to have ramp going up on the second floor and opening on to a third floor - it would pretty much render what would be the middle floor unusable. As ground roaming creatures, any upper levels don’t count towards the cage size in any event and it is only the bottom level of their cage which counts and needs to meet space requirements.
I think that being able to let them out and have floor time would be of more benefit to them than putting on a third floor to be able to add more hidey houses

To figure out how much square feet you have, you shouldn’t count both levels, only the ground floor. Any upper levels don’t count towards floor space and a cage must meet the RSPCA guidelines of being at least 120x60cm on the ground floor. Guinea pigs are roamers so these upper floors don’t count in the same way. When measuring your cage, make sure you’re measuring inside space rather than the outside of the cage/hutch as they can be quite bulky on the exterior.

If I was able to take this apart and lay both pieces side by side so it would be a big rectangle would that be the right amount?

That would be great. They ideally need a single level large surface area, not multiple levels

I'm gonna try a trial and error. So before doing anything permanent, I just did this. Obviously if it works out the doors wont be ontop lol. It actually doesnt take up as much room as I though it would, clearly more than it did the other way but I know this is better for the pigs. They actually did have one of those c&c cages I think it's called? But then they got rid of it and got this because it does look bigger but still had the top so I took it apart and put two of the pieces in the back and two in the front just for now. I do have to watch my cat around them and she sleeps in my room so.20200524_195954.jpg20200524_193737.jpg

That’s definitely better. The piggies will appreciate a single level flat area. Well done
Creating a lid or blocking off any open areas will definitely be a good idea with a cat around

I'll probably end up basically cutting the top section off and lay the trays ontop of some plywood for the bottom then do the same with the bottom half and I have an old sugar glider cage its 5 foot tall and like 4 foot wide I think so I'm gonna try to do something with that either has just a little play pin for them if I cant let them loose and watch them the whole time at least theyll be able to run about safely or I will add it to the top maybe but probably just use it as a play pin I'm pretty sure this now meets the requirements for two pigs right?
