Basically i've been a piggie owner almost a week and they're outdoor piggies. They have got a towl and paper in their hooded bed and they both seem fine but are cuddled up a lot assuming due to the colder weather.

The idea i have had is to get some of the Space wrap (blanket ones as they're thinner) and also greenhouse bubble wrap. I was planning on putting it on a bit of plywood or something (i.e. a section for each part of the hutch) and just screw or drill it in over winter to keep them warm a long with a heating device such as the snuggle safes to give extra heat.

Will that be ok for them? I can get it all done next month and i may bring them in for a few weeks (going to annoy the parents) but i really want to work on taming them and with the weather like this it hasn't been easy and obviously the longer i leave it the harder it's going to get.

thanks :)

mine are outdoor piggies and we have screwed insulation boards to the sides, back, top etc then i cover the whole block of hutches with blankets and duvets to keep them warm over night. They also have their snuggle sacks and vetbed. the hutch is under cover so the wind and rain doesn't get to it. I had the boards from wickes in wolverhampton.

Thanks, I'll pop down there or to the telford one. It's just nice and easy to put boards in yearly instead of buying new supplies each time :)

i had mine reduced they should have been £20 each but the corners were knocked so they had reduced them to £8.00 each and i needed 3 so it was a big saving. my block of hutches are 8' x 4' x 2'. each sheet is 8' x 4' so depending on the size of your hutch you may get away with the one sheet.

That's great, i'll have a look when i'm next up town. They're toasty to the touch and their bed is stuffed with paper and is covered with a towel to keep the heat in. I'll just be more reassured knowing they can have a run around the hutch instead of staying huddled together in bed. :)
