It's Day 4 in the Little Piggie House...

After another day of not much interaction I was starting to worry that they might just tolerate each other and never properly bond for snuggles, but tonight I went in to say goodnight to them and they were both out in the downstairs bit and being very still around each other. I sat down to watch and after a few moments of eye-balling each other (I was worried they were going to start fighting any minute) they both relaxed and started sniffing each other. Mutual bum-sniffing and nose rubbing ensued, along with Ginger trying to *ahem* mount Tilly, she was having none of it, but she did then start sniffing Ginger's chin, couldn't tell if it was grooming or just sniffing. Anyways, progress! From ignoring each other most of the time except when Tilly would chase Ginger away, we now have sniffing each other and sitting right next to each other. Yay!

That's great! Especially as it's only Day 4, I think that sounds like great progress. Isn't it great watching them settle in? I love the little changes I see in each new day

It is sounding like they have moved onto to friendly dominance now.

Just be aware that things are likely to get rather lively again when your top girl is coming into season, as the first seasons are usually stronger. It is part of the bonding process. The shared excess and experience acts as glue.

thats great news! friendly dominance is amazing, Since introduction my two boars have been on that stage. The eat and popcorn around together, and cuddle together in my lap but in their cage they prefer separate hideys, both are used to sleeping alone though so this doesn't bother me :) I'm sure your girls will be best of friends soon

It is wonderful to watch, when I got up this morning Tilly was finally in the upstairs bit. They are both a lot more vocal now too, really nice to see them coming out of their shells. Won't feed from my hand yet, but they don't run away from me now, so that's improving too! Happy piggie mummy!
