I tried the boys on some new pellets this week. They were mixed in with their normal ones. This is what I found in two of the cages when I went to remove the bowls. They obviously decided their slave was so thick she didn't understand the day before's left pellets, she needed a stronger message. :)) Sorry boys you've got them again tomorrow.

😁 that’s what happened with my girls! I moved them from...one with mint (can’t remember the name) to Harrington’s. They rebelled at first but had to capitulate when they realised I put my foot down 🤣

I don't give up easily! It took Spike and Peanut 10 months to eat peppers, I got there in the end. :))
I'm struggling to get Peanut to eat enough on his own after his surgery ( a month ago now) so am trying all sorts of things. I've had to go back to syringing him 3 times a day to keep him stable as he lost another 50gms last week. My already postponed trip to my daughter is next week and I'd really like to go this time, all ideas greatfully received!

Sorry to hear about Peanut. Is there someone you could trust to pet sit and syringe feed him? Or a good boarding place you could leave them where he’ll be looked after? Sorry no ideas apart from that I’m afraid.

Could you take him with you if needs be?

If Peanut was any of my other piggies I would take him with me. I took Bracken and Rusty twice last year and it worked really well. Peanut is a very nervous boar and arrives at the vets after a 15 min journey shaking and with his eyes rolling so it's not really an option. My OH will be here looking after the piggies but he needs to work and I don't feel it's fair to ask him to attempt to syringe feed as well as poop pick and feed daily. If I can get Peanut back to 1kg by next Tuesday I will go if not I'll postpone again. This depends on getting rid of Spike's month long URI anyway as he's on meds and being nebulised. I wouldn't want to split these two for the sake of my daughter's decorating and my country walks, piggies are more important.

I took Christian away in the caravan with my when I had to syringe feed him My "car and van" holiday by Christian

Quick update. Still feeding Peanut 2 or 3 times a day, he went over the killo mark today so going the right way now. I will feel happier with another 100gm though. I've been watching him in the hay he's been munching for ages for the first time since his op, he's also eaten most of today's nuggets again for the first time. Fingers crossed we've passed some kind of hurdle, just don't know what we've been fighting! Hoping I can reduce then stop the syringe feeds in the next few days. Metacam runs out tomorrow, hopefully no need to go and get more.

Spike is still whoopy breathing on and off. I'm still nebulising with F10, he's had Septrin for a week now, seen his 4th vet today who has given us another week of Septrin. Not sure where we go from here if this doesn't work.

My two poorly boars in the run at clean out time today. Eating the only thing Peanut has really wanted for the last month!

When Micah wasn’t well after his neutering I fed mashed banana mixed in with the Critical Care.
He loved it and wouldn’t let go of the syringe.
It helped him put on weight until we cleared the abscess and infection and he started eating again

Unfortunately mine think banana is poison, you should see the glare I get before they back away. Some days I've mixed a bit of vegtable baby food into the recovery food to make it more interesting. He eats the recovery food now with a resigned air that sort of says "the quicker I get this down the quicker I go back to my cage". :)) Hopefully another couple of days and I can try backing off again. I can't go away this week after all as Spike has another week of Septrin. Spike hates Septrin, when the vet said I shouldn't have any trouble getting him to take it, "it tastes of banana" my heart sank. He loves Metacam, I don't even need to take him out of the cage for that but one sniff of the syringe shuts that little mouth up tight!
Hopefully another week and all will be well, the sun will shine, the grass will grow and I can go and help my daughter decorate her new house.
