long story short shes been to the vets last saturday to have a broken tooth sorted, was on baytril for 5 days. I'm syringe feeding her food & water altho i caught her eating chopped up hay which was a ** sign, she perked up no end and now todays she given up. No signs of anything wrong, no squeeling in pain no nothing just wanting to bury her face in hay or a towel and lay there

I'm currently sat holding her in a towel & I'm gunna try feeding her some more

I just love her so much

Hi Becky, sorry to hear that you think this. If I may, I'd like to ask a few questions to get an idea of the situation and tell you if there's anything you can do...

- How old is she?
- Has she seemed worse since having the Baytril (known to "adversely" affect some pigs)?
- Has she been on any pain relief?
- When/why is she squealing in pain?
- How much and how often are you syringe feeding her?
- What exactly did the vet do last Saturday?

Sorry if you feel I'm being too nosy, I just want to understand if there is any hope for this pig, if there is something that you can do that will perk her up again, and from what you've said so far I am wondering if there's something more going on that can perhaps be sorted and get her back to health.

Hey, my pig has been this way for a long while, months tbh. He keeps having his teeth trimmed, I keep syringe feedin ghi but his weight always drops to 750g, I can get it til about 890g but without syringe feeding he doesn't maintain it, some days he's slow and old looking, not interested in much but sleeping, other days he's chopping away at everything and anything. Today he's a chomper. I'll keep syringe feeding hi tho, his weight went up on its own from last night 730g-750g... He hates the syringe food (soft pellets) prefers vegs from baby food and loves being syringe fed water lol. lazy thing.

Keep your spirits up, sometimes pigs just act this way, as long as she IS eating one way or another... x

Thankyou for replying

Shes about 18months, a beautiful texel
She seemed livelier whilst on the baytril, more enthusiastic about food ect.
She had a pain relief injection on saturday
She isnt squeeling in pain sorry i wasnt clear in my post
Excel mushed up pellets 2/3 times a day
The vet removed the broken half of the tooth & trimmed the other to a simular length, this was when he gave the pain relief injection.

She didnt wake up :(

I cant cope at the minute, everythings going wrong.

ive lost my little wiggwamm, her cage mates now looking 4 her which is making me feel so much worse

They are my babies & now not only am i devastated ive lost her ive got to sort something for her cagemate,They were a difficult bond. Neither would get along with anything else, just each other. They met & loved each other so much

Rest in peace my little angel8...

oh i am really really sorry, you did all you could, dont beat yourself up.

Try and remember good things, time is a healer i promise you xxxxxx

I'm so sorry for your loss hun, it seems like such a tough time for you right now. But remember all us piggy buddies are always here for you. xxxxx

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss... my heart goes out to you! We lost a piggie under somewhat similar circumstances last summer... dental issues (compounded by an abscess down in the jaw/tooth roots) and she just could not bounce back from the surgery and antibiotics... she just dropped so much weight in spite of syringe feeding and she got lethargic and wheezy and finally passed, all in about two weeks' time. She was about 18 months old as well. ((HUGS))- I know all too well how much it hurts!
