Yesterday I tragically lost my ghost, I went outside around 8am to give breakfast and noticed something wasn't right, sadly he didn't even last a day and passed away overnight at the vets
I am devastated as ghost was between 2 half-3 years old and I'd hoped it would be at least 2 years before we would have to go through this again.
It seems I'm trapped in a cycle of losing a pig, adopting a pig...
At least his friend seems to be doing fine and I suppose for his sake I should start looking for another pig to adopt

I'm so sorry for your loss.. ❤️ you need time to process what has happened. You could try and contact some rescues but I don't think they're open for bondings atm. How's the other Piggy doing?

So sorry for your loss, sleep tight Ghost 🌈❤️

Hi and welcome

I am so very sorry that you have lost Ghost. Unfortunately, once the body starts closing down for whatever reason, there is nothing that can be done to reverse the process - in that case, their fast metabolism is very much against guinea pigs. Some piggies unfortunately live with a genetic time bomb in their bodies. Please be kind to yourself in the coming days. :(

All the best for finding a new companion!

Thank you for your messages
His friend seems to be doing ok (I left ghost with him for a while so he had time to except what's happened)
Maybe ill give it a week or so before I contact anywhere, I don't mind bonding myself

Here is our bereavement support info, both for companions and humans. As long as your boy is eating and drinking, he will keep for several weeks, so you have time to get over the roughest bit yourself and do your research. The crucial part in any piggy bond is a personality match; that is why we recommend rescue dating whenever that is possible.
